On occasion of the 750 year anniversary since the birth of Dante Alighieri, the great medal master,Bino Bini, honours the great poet with a special coin, coined by the historical company, Picchiani & Barlacchi.
The medal (one of many for Dante, who boasts a “collection” of hundreds of coins and castings) was commissioned by the Società Dantesca Italiana (Italian Dantesque Society) and will be donated to the most important protagonists of Dantesque initiatives; it has a 50 mm diameter and is made in lacquered bronze, produced in a series of only one hundred pieces.
The top side displays Dante’s unmistakeable profile, while the reverse side shows a lily, the universal symbol of the Tuscan capital and its culture.
